Hi, It seems to me that this is a similar situation as you had with GT (a problem with permissions?). Please run the command gpt-build with the option -verbose
/usr/local/globus-5.0.1/gpt/sbin/gpt-build -verbose -force /home/globus/.globus/simpleCA/globus_simple_ca_3f1d6fab_setup-0.20.tar.gz and show us what you get.
