Well, this also deletes the kernel modules. And an uImage in /boot.

This means that boot.scr did not find a bootable kernel.

Well, a current boot loader might be required and can be generally recommended.
Please note that you might not be able to boot the NAND system any more, 
depending
on how old the original boot loader is.

Step 1: upgrade boot loader

* use latest makesd
* DEV=/dev/sdb makesd gta04 debian -- (assuming you don't have a GTA04A5 which 
would need "gta04one")
* boot with this SD card (with pressing the AUX button)
* screen should turn red when flashing the boot loader

Step 2: install qtmoko wheezy (the jessie variant has a significant bug we have 
not yet found the solution)

* use makesd again
* DEV=/dev/sdb makesd qtmoko -r
