I don't think anyone was waiting on me but since I said I was going to look into this I should say: I did a lot of poking around and, although I learned a lot more about the codebase, the core/gui separation is over my head at this point. I do think that the work that's been done so far is totally going to make the job easier. Once something is more established I can/will totally plug in.
