BTW, you can turn off any beeping by "xset b off". Applications do not have to respect this actually but GTK+ does, AFAICH. OTOH, you should really update. It's not that a newer version is just more silent. Usually you do yourself *and* the network <recursion applies here> a big favour. -- Christian
