OK, a few folks have contacted me off list about a December ride through
the NM backroads. Yep, we have great roads, but I have to admit that
December and January are the two months most likely to produce snow in the
high country (and that's where the GOOD roads are).
So....I guess I'm volunteering. Anyone want a GTS jaunt through the AZ/NM
back country DURING THE BEST RIDING MONTHS? I don't want to spend time
putting it together for a time of year that the snowflakes can ruin, but
I can look at some ideas for next month. I have a better idea.
Options. Spring can be nice, but winds can happen and can make things a
bit less than fun. I could look at a March kind of time frame and we
could hope for the best.
A year from now (well, ALMOST a year) I'd see a Tour de Foliage as ideal,
and late October to late November would be really hard to beat around
here. For example, last night it got down to around 40 F, today will
likely get up to low/mid-70s. Wind is negligible. Sun is shining. It's
been like that for several weeks, heck, even into the 80s some days. And
of course, much cooler in the high country, but not at too cold for nice
riding.
But, Robert and Steve and anyone else--let me know your December plans,
the great Mexican restaurants will be here snow or no snow.
