I have an ongoing problem with the negative lead to my battery coming loose.
You have to be carefull not to overtighten as the terminals on the battery
can break. So every oil change I check the battery too, and it always needs
tightening.

When it comes loose, it has similar symptoms to what you describe, or
sometimes just shuts off and refuses to start.

I would be guessing here, but it kind of sounds like loose wires if
everything is blinking. Perhaps you have a loose connection somewhere,
maybe at the battery terminals?
