So obviously you need to add ntp-service if you just use %base-services + some minor additions.... I thought it was part of base. This fixes the resolution of names, but introduces problems with ntpd (unexpected origin timestamps). I still can't ping, but I will let the VM run for a while now to see if something needs to get in sync. -- ng0
