Hello,

we are leaving the GCD itself to enter general discussion territory on
consensus, but I cannot resist to give my cents.

I understand the idea behind consensus that in principle, everyone is
obliged to help reach consensus (as "responsible adults"). Of course one
feels strongly about one's own GCDs, and others may also feel strongly,
so this is not always easy; I would say that the sponsors are supposed
to fill this role for GCDs. From GCD 001:
"A *sponsor* is a contributor who informs the author(s) that they would
like to support the GCD by participating in discussions, providing
constructive comments to help the author(s), soliciting opinions, and
acting as timekeepers."
They are emotionally less involved than the authors and thus can help
to advance the discussion.

Simon's contributions appear to me to fulfill exactly this role.

What is a bit unclear in consensus finding is what happens if someone
deliberately sabotages the process; this has not happened so far, but
could be the case some day.

Andreas
