Cardinal Ivan Dias presided over the ceremonies of Fatima Portugal, on the the 13th May 2004.
I watched the ceremonies through the Portuguese TV and heard him talking in fluent Portuguese to an audience of several thousand gathered in
His homily confirmed he is very devout of our Lady of Fatima, just like Pope John Paul II was.
He said it was the 5th time he had come to Fatima as a pilgrim and the Bishop of Leiria, in the end of the celebration, thanked the Cardinal saying he had not only come as a pilgrim, he had come as a true prophet. Despite his name and his obvious Portuguese India/Goan routes, everyone was very surprised (including the TV broadcasters) that he was so fluent in Portuguese.
I think he is an excellent candidate. Lets wait and see.
Paulo Colaco Dias.
