You are living in the computer
age. The Shuttle Discovery is the product of this age, but
many are afraid of this gadget. It is there not only to type your
mails and letters, but is used extensively in commercial applications, and you
operate the software written by others in your work place.
Database is the generic name of commercial
information. It is not new. Did you know from Roman
Times they kept Birth and Death Registers, and our Catholic
church kept such registers from where genealogists
tale out our genealogies ?
In a Table the information bits are put in columns,
and each record is filled in lines or rows You may be familiar with
the Excel program which is used to make 'spread sheets' However, Fox
Pro developed Database programs which are applied in banking, air travel
etc. Microsoft bought Fox Pro and developed a user friendly software
called MICROSOFT ACCESS.
This software can be used by any one curious enough
to put his personal information, in such a way, that he can create 'forms' to be
filled by any beginner and then extract sorts, print outs - send this
information to others via email. Thus small businesses can create
software just useful to them, home users, can make address books, accounts,
diaries etc
