Massive search on for crashed helicopter

Belgaum: Army and Police personnel have launched a massive hunt to trace the survivors and the crash site of the Naval chopper that crashed soon after take off from Goa killing four naval officers. More than 200 Armymen and 70 police personnel have started scouting the thick jungles of Khanapur. Aiding them in rescue operations were a light aircraft and Naval helicopter, police officials told UNI here.  The weather had slightly improved as the massive combing operations covered areas including villages Hemmadaga, Degaon, Krishnapur, Bheemghad, Kongla, Ghavani, Pastoli and Talaiwadi.  The rescuers were also looking into abandoned mines in these areas for the two survivors who had jumped off the helicopter after the crash. The combing operations were resumed at around 0700 hrs this morning after heavy rains and thick forest cover stopped it at 2000 hrs yesterday. A 15 sq km area had been cordoned off by the police and Army officials.  The Helicopter crashed when it took off from Dabolim Naval Base for Hyderabad.
