This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. With a slight delay, old vehicles appear
at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de/GURPSnet_files/summary.html

ArcoTech Bus v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL9)
  Copyright 2006 by Onno Meyer

On very inhospitable planets, populations are often concentrated in a
few arcologies. Vehicles for use within these buildings differ from the
open country models - size matters, and bigger isn't always better.
The ArcoTech Bus is open, with seats for a driver and nine passengers
and standing room for five more. The bus is less than 4 m long, with an
articulated rear section for turns in narrow corridors. A robotic model
for 15 passengers was developed as well, but public mistrust of robots
has led to a commercial failure - customers want a human in charge, not
a machine.
At full speed, the power cells last for 12.5 hours.

Subassemblies: Body +3, six small Wheels -1.
Powertrain: 12-kW wheeled drivetrain; two 270,000-kWs rechargeable E
  cells.

Design Notes
Articulated body is 170 cf. Wheels are 10 cf (increased volume).
Structure is light and cheap. All-wheel steering and improved brakes.
Body armor is cheap composite, wheel armor is cheap metal. Mechanical
controls. There are 2.11 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 1,000 lbs.
The TL9 vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules
affect the background but not the technology of this design.

Next Week: A little fire engine.
