General Products LR45 Grav Harvester v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL10) Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer Sufficiently advanced worlds will soon apply contragrav technology to agricultural machinery. A flying combine harvester, for example, avoids soil compaction and it needs no roads. Many kids from backwater worlds learned to fly on farm machinery, not air/rafts. The LR45 is a typical model, with interchangeable heads for a variety of crops and room for two displacement tons of produce. The pilot has a comfortable cockpit with avionics for slow, low-altitude flight -- two low-light cameras, a short-ranged radar, GPS and fly-by-wire controls. The harvester has no power plant, just power cells to be recharged from the planetary power grid or a solar array. The power cells last for 8 hours of operations, or 21 hours of travel. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, Jan 2007 errata], Traveller, VXi and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.
