What do you think about asking osgeo to support git as well as svn in
their trac instances? I know some other projects hosted by osgeo are
moving to git nowadays (openlayers, qgis, etc) so I think you will get
more energy there. Could be a good time to move under osgeo umbrella.

Just a rant about java and git: keep in mind that most of java
developers use what their eclipse support. Nowadays (last time I
checked) the support for git isn't good enough in eclipse. Bottom line:
maybe you will have some resistance from them.

Well, after using git for some years now, most of navtable developers
are fluent with it. We have even tried to move to gitorious the
codebase. But, needed to say, the lack of support for a good wiki,
bugtracker and post-notice on commits were major issues for us. So we
have prefered keep in OSOR even though the ugly tool it is.

After all, due to our kind of work (working in parallel with gvsig trunk
and coordinating ourselves: cartolab, icarto, external contributions,
etc) we have became more or less fluent in git-svn too. So, changing
wasn't a strong priority right now.

best,
