Connecting the BookSense to an external speaker using the headphone
jack won't damage it. The BookSense doesn't know you haven't
connected a pair of headphones. You could connect it to your home
stereo system if you wanted to, and there wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks both of you. Neither of you feel like these external

Rod, thanks for the comparison. This may mean, if I have it on 16
with 2.0 firmware, it could be compared to having it on 12. Not
very loud to share a book between friends.
A bluetooth external speaker, now that could be cool! *smile*

Hello
You can get the Sony model SRS-BTM30 speaker that will connect with
a cord or now with the new 2.0 you can also connect with Bluetooth.
I have this Sony speaker and it works very well.
I hope this helps.

Hey, for those of you that own 2 booksense, have you had them side
by side to hear the volume differences? It would be interesting to
hear the difference between 1.1 firmware and 2.0. I think it is a
larger difference than I originally thought.
With that said, it would be nice to know of a safe external speaker
we could plug into the booksense. I have no desire to break my bs
speaker, so I understand the lower volume issue, but it is too quiet
to share a book with a friend. I don't like to go much higher than
vol 15-16 or so.
I remember there was a person on here a few months back selling an
external speaker. *Smile,* I guess I'd like the all clear from hims
or gw, before I try such a thing.
Happy Holidays all,
Traci
