Hi Jim,

These instructions are very clear. I would only modify them slightly by saying that it would simplify things slightly to hit F2 to rename a folder, rather than hitting F10 and finding Rename on the menu. Or is this capability only available in Vista? I am forgetting my Windows XP stuff.

Thanks for sending this up.

Evan

Howdy,

There is a usability issue (it's not really a bug) between the way
RFB&D puts books into folders, and the way the booksense works with
folders.

RFB&D puts each CD of a printed book into folders under a parent
folder which is named after the book number, not the book name.

e.g. 53012-3001\CD01

So, if you browse to the <book-number> folder, you're not really in a
daisy book, just a folder that holds one of more daisy books. Each CD
of a print book makes up one daisy book. Often, there's just one CD,
but not always.

There are two ways to deal with this problem. I'll start by only
talking about RFB&D books that have 1 CD.

The two options are

1) Browse into the CD01 folder on your booksense

or

2) Rename the folders on your computer before copying them to your
  booksense.

Below are instructions for each.

The first option is technically much simpler. All you have to do is
right arrow one more time once you've found the folder with all the
numbers in it. That is, once you find the folder with all the
numbers, don't press play, instead press the right arrow. You should
then hear the title of the book, and then press play.

NOTE: If your book is on more than 1 CD, you can now press the down
arrow to hear the other CDs of this book.

The Second option renames your folders and can be more convenient,
because you don't have to deal with the numbered folder once it's on
your booksense. instead of copying the <book-number> folder to your
booksense, you can rename <book-number>\CD01 to be the title of the
book, and copy the newly renamed folder to your booksense.

Here are the steps to do this.

1. On your computer, navigate to just inside the <book-number> folder.
2. Select the CD01 folder.
3. Type shift+f10.
4. Select rename from the menu that comes up.
5. Type in the title of the book.
6. Finally, copy the new folder (which is the title of the book) to
   your booksense.

NOTE: If your books is on multiple CDs, you'll want to rename them to
be "book title part 1", "book title part 2", etc.

I hope these instructions make sense. If not, please feel free to ask
questions.

Jim

Hi everyone,

Got my UAK for RFB&D, installed it successfully, and copied a book onto the Booksense. But when I press right arrow to hear the title of the book, the TTS just speaks the numbers associated with the book. When I press play, it says not allowed. What should I do next?
