I guess I just didn't wait long enough for it to come up. I'll remember that next time. I've got another 16GB card on order. Thanks again. If it was over 4GB, then that is why you probably thought that it was locked up. The larger sizes can take a few more seconds to write the folders to the card and ring the door bell telling you that it has recognized the card. Normal operation is to eject the old card while the power is on and then insert the new card. Wait at least 15 seconds, maybe longer, and the unit will sound the door bell like chime, telling you that the card has been recognized and that the folders have been created alright. I have a 32GB card and it took almost 30 seconds the first time I put it into the unit. I even attached my Book Sense to a 500GB portable hard drive (self powered) and, after almost 5 minutes, it was able to read the drive just fine! I hope this helps with your question. It immediately stopped talking and I could not get it to respond. I reset the machine by removing the battery, then reinserted the card while the unit was off. Same thing happened. The third time I reset the device with the new card in the slot, it came up with the folders on the new card. I didn't get an opportunity to go into the menu and select "format Storage Card, or whatever it's called. Is this the way it's supposed to work. If so, how can anyone know what's happening when they insert a new card? That is, whether it is formatting the card, or has simply locked up? If it is not the way it supposed to work, then I guess my Book Sense is faulty in some way. Any advice? I really like this little gadget a lot and use it all the time, but this was a bit disconcerting. Evan If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
