Hi Kim

If you record at a high bit rate then it is not surprising that it may
not play at higher speeds in the same way. When you speed something up
that is digital, it is not the same as playing something faster that is
stored on a ribbon type of format, such as a cassette tape.

A lot of digital audio recordings are at 16 or 32 BPS. When you get into
the higher quality for music and the such, then most digital players
will not crank up their speeds as well either.

You have a choice of two formats: MP3, or WAV. Additionally, you
can set the bit rate from the default which is 16,000, all the way up
to 44,000 bits per second. One thing I've noticed is that if you try
to listen to files you record at bit rates above 22.5BPS, the
Booksense has trouble playing them at the highest
speed. Additionally, you can set the microphone sensitivity from 1,
(the default) to 4 which is good for recording when you're in a large
room and not close to the person speaking. It's been my experience
that the internal microphone does very well for external recording.
