Hi Sara I have a similar problem. We tried everything reinstalled window-eyes but can't get back the speech. Now we are doing a system recovery hoping to start from scratch. We took off the trend micro virus program so that might help but what sinched the recovery was the keyboard started making double letters so we thought it might be a bigger problem. Actually I noticed double letters before and my wife said it was my typing but now it's happening when she uses it.
I didn't willingly uninstall the 7.1 though actually from what I was seeing I like it. But when I removed the eloqquence programs my problems began my voice just died never to return. Music and other programs were still working fine could play cd's everything. had a blue screen though so some kind of driver issue just not sure where the problem is. Don't like HP though should have bought another Dell much better. I'm wondering if vista basic could be the problem maybe it's not as stable as Vista Home. I had to buy this computer last october because mine crashed and I needed some term papers done in a hurry. Did it the cheap way with vista basic so maybe that's the problem. If your jaws still works most likely someone at GW will have a solution and get you back up and running. I plan on buying the 7.1 because when it worked for me it did seem to run faster and when we get back up I'll go back and try the beta a second time, but if I value my life from my wife's viewpoint it better not crash again. I removed the beta and tried to install 6.1 again but I must have messed up video intercept or something because the installer won't talk. I am using JAWS to type this email now. Oh well, at least jaws is still working so I am not totally in the dark. smile Sara ----- Original Message ----- From: mop To: Sara Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2008 9:20 PM Subject: Re: Browsers are so frustrating with new beta on this machine It is showing you 10 but it is set to 100. Try going back and typing 100 press the tab key to the accept button or whatever that is called and I think you will find it shows you 71 scripts there even though it says 10 when you read it by character. Also, when I read using the tab and shift tab to read it says 100. Is your screen maximized. andy ----- Original Message ----- From: Sara To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2008 3:55 PM Subject: Browsers are so frustrating with new beta on this machine Hi all. I was trying to login to script central with firefox and just had to give up. It just won't access the edit box where you type in the number of scripts per page that you want. Ten is way too low and so I set it to 99. Right now I can't use either IE or firefox because they both have such annoying problems. I know the shift tab isn't WE, but what about the need to constantly turn browse mode on and off? What about the edit fields in firefox 3? WE just doesn't see them in browse mode. Also firefox doesn't always speak the title bar so I don't always notice when a new page has loaded. I am so tired of these two browsers that just won't quite work. I guess the shift tab is the smallest problem and I'll have to put up with it until firefox can see edit controls. Sara P.S. Should I try a fresh install of WE?
