I believe most laptops list the touchpad under pointing devices in the device manager, and so it can be disabled there as well.
If you need sighted assistance, just plug in a usb mouse and they can use that for a pointing device (if it's time consuming to re-enable it). I'm looking for a hotkey for Dell laptops like the one described for Toshiba laptops to temporarily disable the touchpad if anyone knows of such. thanks.
