I had a problem while using Outlook Express the other day and partially losing
speech.

While composing a message W-E stopped speaking, though it would speak if I
highlighted text. The arrow keys would not echo speech, in the composition
window, or in the list view of Outlook Express.

I had to close down Outlook Express, losing the partially composed message and
on restarting it speech returned.

Whether turning scripting off will make a difference I don't know, but I'll
have to try it.

End by saying to GW, keep the betas coming for as long as it takes to get the
scripting side right. I for one don't want this tremendously powerful feature
crippled with instability and that factor is what has convinced some to switch
to Window-Eyes. in order to escape such blow ups.

ChfeersCheers,
Ray.

Hi Michael, yes, I find that is the case, but haven't lost speech at all
today, or had a "scripting error" either. One thing, I did update my computer
with MS updates which ... who knows? :) Anyway, with scripting off, I find WE
faster, but functionality provided by the wonderful scripts is lost in that
condition, and since various authors write the scripts, the debugging issues
will be those of the author generally, not those of GW-Micro, isn't that right
for the most part, unless you can build in some kind of debugging routines into
the handlers of the various scripts which will be written. Computers to fix
computers, that'show we'll have it. <grin>

For those of you with loss of speech issues if you turn scripting off under
file manage sets and scripts scripting status does that have any impact on the
problem? Obviously this is frustrating and disappointing for us as we don't
want you to have these problems and yet we aren't seeing them so solving them
is difficult.
