I have been experiencing the loss of speech problem with WE 6.1 for a
long time on my home computer and it has continued with the WE 7
betas. It happens several times a week and I have not been able to
identify any pattern to when the problem will happen. When the loss
of speech occurs, machine response becomes very sluggish. I have to
kill the WE tasks and then restart WE. I am running Windows XP Home SP2.
I have not had the loss of speech problem at work where I run Windows
XP Pro SP2. This machine runs on a corporate network but I run WE locally.
I use the DECtalk Access that comes with WE on both machines.
At home I use XP Home SP2 and at work XP Pro SP2.
AT home I use IE 7 while at work we still use IE 6.
At home I use Eudora 7 and at work I use Outlook 2003.
At home I use Zone Alarm Security Suite and work we use some version
of Symantec.
Those are the major differences I can think of.
