Hello all:
I have encountered a problem which, at least on the surface, seems to be a
problem with Window-Eyes, but which may be something different entirely.
So-called "Comments" in MS Word can be very handy. They allow one, for
example, to insert a description or explanation for a document revision without
forcing edits to the actual text of the document as would be the case, for
example, if comments were simply entered in the text and between brackets.
After a document has been thoroughly commented and reviewed, it is then useful
to go through the document, to put it in final form, by accepting or rejecting
changes and deleting comments.
Doing all this through the reviewing tool bar works great, and one can
accept/reject and delete comments for a portion of the text that is
highlighted, e.g., from a point in the file to the top.
Now, here comes the problem. When I delete some comments in that way,
Window-Eyes sort of fails to see the comments. In other words, the insert plus
tab function, which should bring up a list of comments, bookmarks, revisions,
and so on, shows "no comments."
That is, however, in accurate. As one arrows through the text, WE announces
the comments and even reads their contents. Yet, if one again goes into the
WE-generated dialog created by the insert plus tab command, WE still insists
there are no comments.
I have had this happen two or three times. The sort-of disappearing comments
also sometimes happens when the file is copied. The comments are there, but
the WE-generated dialog doesn't see them.
This can be very annoying when, for example, one wants quickly to review the
comments and then jump to one of particular interest.
If others have seen this or have found a solution in Word, our advice would be
appreciated.
I've tried unloading and loading WE. I've tried exiting and reentering Word.
Nothing seems to fix the problem.
