Brice, I heartily recommend Jarte, a free word processor based on the Wordpad engine. There's also a pay version. It has drop-down menus and a mode especially for screen readers. Curtis's recent difficulty with reading the Window-Eyes 7.11 "read me" file demonstrates a problem with Jarte's inability to handle at least some Unicode
files, but overall, this program is a winner. You can find it at

I need an alternative word processor to replace Micro Soft Word that will work with window eyes.. This note book came with a 60 day trial student version of office with out outlook. Being that I have no need for Excell, or Power point, I don't think it's worth paying $125 activation fee just for MS word.
