That terminology is rather out of date. Every sound card is multichannel these days, it is done through drivers rather than special hardware.
Not that that alone would convince me to buy a netbook. By the time you connect a keyboard big enough to use, add enough ram to make it fun to use and buy an external dvd drive, you could get a decent notebook and have the whole lot in one package.
