Dear List:
Sometimes, I want to turn off my sighted wife's computer (with her permission
of course) so that MagicJack will start properly, if it has been disconnected.
Both of us have Windows XP. The usual Windows key followed by two u keystrokes
does not always shut it down. If I can get Narrator to work just enough to
help me close the computer down properly, it would eliminate repeated guesses
and retries. When I did a Windows-U on my computer to test it out, narrator
came up but I got tangled up in a magnifier menu. When I got out, it said
something about foreground. Now, when I do a Windows-U to bring up Narrator,
nothing happens. How can I reset Narrator again so it will talk, and what
settings should I adjust? If I can figure how to bring up Narrator again, To
close Narrator, do I just do an alt-F4 like any other application? Any ideas
will be appreciated. Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson
