I also have been a longtime Window-Eyes user. Version 7.5 works very well
for me and the only thing that I have changed is that I've put WE in the
system tray to hide it from the tab order. Scripts or apps makes no
difference to me, but apps is shorter and that's a good thing.

I'M STILL WAITING FOR BROWSER IMPROVEMENTS THAT WERE PROMISED A LONGTIME
AGO, but maybe in version 8?

Amen! I'm not crazy about the new interface either. The best thing is the
global setting. And I have read a bunch of the manual.

I've been a long-time 'windoweyes user and, with a couple of exceptions,
love the product -- I think it's in most ways much better than the
competition.
I have a couple of comments on 7.5. these are based on limited use and
some attempts to find information in the manual; I haven't gone through the
entire manual or tutorial yet.

  1. I do like the fact that one can set all voice and other parameters
from one menu rather than having to go in and out of menus each time you
change a parameter. Nice innovation, Gw Micro!

  2. However, I do not like the new interface. first, windoweyes is far too
verbose when alt-tabbing to it from other programs. I don't want or need to
hear menu choices, and I find it annoying that I end up on the last menu
choice I made, whether I'm in minimize or in some other part of the
Interface. One thing I like about JAWS is that it says "JAWS when you tab to
it.
If there's a way to just make windoweyes say "windoweyes" when alt-tabbing
to it, or just the associated setfile, as it did before, I'd like to here
it. I think this needs to be improved for the next release.

  3. I find the new interface hard to navigate; some of the categories
aren't obvious. Part of this is my unfamiliarity with the new interface. for
me, the new interface isn't better, on the whole; it's just different,
requiring a learning curve that, at my advanding age (smile) I'm less and
less willing to engage in.

  4. I haven't figured out how to actually change voices. I can find voice
rotor, and how to add or delete a voice, but I haven't found where to
actually switch voices. It was not obvious from where I looked in the
manual.

  5. I would never have thought to look for the Voice rotor in the Apps
menu. I think this menu needs to be renamed, or another menu needs to be
created. I found voice rotor only by stumbling across it, so to speak.
I'm finding the menus less intuitive.

  6. As I'm tabbing through the menus, I keep hearing "xxxx toggle scope,
button", then another tab brings me to where I can set or change the
parameter. Again, this is probably due to my lack of familiarity and not
fully reading the manual, but I don't' understand the purpose of the "scope
toggle buttons" . I'm finding it confusing and a pain to tab through to get
to the actual parameter I want to change.
there may be a quite logical reason for this added thing; I just haven't
found it.
I hope Gw Micro will be working with Mozilla to come out with an update
which fixes Firefox 4's problems.

Thanks for all of your hard work, Gw Micro;p I hope these comments are
helpful.
