Just hoping also to help Don with this problem. Speech synthesis and hearing loss don't go well together, and whilst I hope that Dec Access may work for Don, it does not work well for me, given the level and type of hearing loss that I have. I keep coming back to Eloquence because I have found it to be the clearest of the synthesisers that I have tried.
I have digital hearing aids, and they are controlled by a remote unit which has an audio jack. Often, the synthesiser is made easier to understand if I plug the correct plug into the hearing aid remote control and into the headphone jack of the pc. The effect is that much of the background noise level is filtered out. I also encourage getting good quality speakers, with good tonal control features. I should probably ad that hearing aids are not for everyone, due to the type of hearing loss, so I am mindful that what works well for me most of the time may not work for others. Don: Best of luck and I also appreciate the advice of others. It might be easier for you to understand. Dectalk access 32 comes with window-eyes, so it's already on your system. Yes, if I use the mouse and do the phonetics, it works, but, other times perhaps because of my hearing, it is tough to differentiate Using both xp pro and windows 7, both with win eyes version 7.5 Don ________________________________ Please consider the environment before printing this email and its attachments.
