I have something quite strange going on for which I have run out of guesses.
Today I brought up a new Windows 7 machine. All looks normal with the system, the sound is working fine from the perspective of windows. WE installed Window-Eyes and as far as it is concerned it is running. The minor detail is that there is no speech output with any of the soft synthesizers. The sound card is set to use the onboard realtek sound card. WE is certainly making good use of the sound system to alert about its updates, but absolutely no speech output. I checked to be sure the WE video driver is present and working. It reports that it is operating normally. I checked the same on the driver for the sound card, all well. I am currently out of ideas as to the cause of the lack of speech output. Any suggestions as to a direction would be greatly appreciated.
