To upload a PDF file, go to the OCR website
http://www.newocr.com/
Then go to the only unlabelled button which is immediately followed by a button labelled as "send file." Press Enter on that unlabelled button which brings up the usual controls for locating a folder on your computer and the file you wish to upload.
After locating the desired PDF file, select the Open button.
You will then be returned to the webpage for the OCR service.
You will find the path and file name of your selected PDF file listed just above the unlabelled button you used to locate and open that file.
Now, press Enter on the "Send File" button.
Uploading takes some time if your file is fairly large. If you have Window Eyes progress indicator turned on then you will hear the progress for uploading. When uploading is complete, you will have a webpage with a non-editable text box containing the text of the first page of your PDF file. You can cut and paste this text into another application as you wish. If there are multiple pages to your PDF document, you will find a dropdown list of all the pages listed by number. When you wish to get the next page, select it from the dropdown and press enter on the "Repeat Recognition" button.
Just repeat these steps to get through all the pages of your document.
I have occasionally found the service to lose track of where I am in a multiple-page document. In this case, I had to again upload the PDF file and use the page dropdown list to continue where I left off.

Jeff

Hi, Jed,
There is a free online OCR service at:
http://www.newocr.com/

You can upload that PDF file to the service and it will download text. There
is an unlabelled button or 2 on the page but you should be able to figure it
out. Also, if the PDF has multiple pages then you need to select each page
from a drop down list and use the link that says "rescan" or something like
that to get the new page you selected. If you have additional questions you
can email me.
HTH,
Jeff
