Price? It's cool to have all these options for accessing printed material. For those of us who were in school in the 80's, the only OCR option at that time was the Kurzweil Reading Machine (KRM) and you didn't own it unless you were Stevy Wonder with 25K burning a hole in your pocket. The machine took up an entire desk and consisted of a giant-size keyboard, and two large components: the scanner itself and the computer unit which required a proprietary KRM cartridge for operation.

Of course, the included voice would certainly play a factor in whether or not he would switch. As it is now, he already asks me to scan some things that will not scan with his machine. Since mine is computer software, it is more flexible than his with automatic settings. His also takes at least 3-4 minutes to boot up and scan the first page.
