Unfortunately I know people who have disabled the Realtech in the bios and the sound still disappears randomly. The most common suggestion I'm still finding on the web is to disable system sounds. I've been trying to figure out which process they use and how it might interact with Window-eyes. I've found the process that gets turned off, but not who is turning it off. <grin.> I'm tempted to turn my system sounds off for a couple of weeks and see what happens. About two weeks ago I was having several instances of sound loss in one day. Since turning off all Window-eyes apps, I've only had one instance of complete sound loss. I suspect that somehow several programs are interacting here. But major shame on Microsoft for such sloppy programming and for seemingly not addressing or acknowledging this. And they want us to use computers to replace TV's, radios, telephones, bla bla bla? Not yet! Not in my house anyway.
