Hi All

I'm using a Dell laptop running XP pro SP3 and WE 7.2 using Eloquence and the internal sound card.

Suddenly a couple of weeks ago my WE voice started breaking up really badly. This seems to occur when the computer is asked to do work such as opening a program, updating something, scan for viruses etc.

At the moment while I'm just typing an email it's pretty good, but I don't have to do much to make the sound start to break up and it can get unintelligible if the computer's working hard.

Over the last week or two I've done quite a lot to try to find the cause and things are a bit better, but I'd welcome any suggestions.

I've uninstalled a lot of unused software, reinstalled WindowEyes, freed disc space, cleaned up the registry a number of times, stopped some processes which aren't necessary, scanned the machine with both Windows security essentials and Spybot and probably other stuff I can't remember, but still the machine is slow to start and the sound is just horrible for a while till things settle down and then aweful whenever you put any demands on the machine and I'm running out of ideas.

All help welcomed
