Mike when you boot into windows 8 the first screen that comes up is
what they call the start screen. It is populated with tiles and you can
arrow through them and choose one by pressing enter on one. There are no
more drop down menus but if you read the read me file you will get some
tips on how to navigate windows 8 with win eyes. Rick

Subject: Start Menu Now Not Being Spoken
Hi, all. I mentioned this issue in an earlier post, and I haven't received
a response as of yet. I thought I would explain the issue in more detail,
however.
I received my Window-eyes 8.0.0 cd this past Saturday. Since I was running
the previous beta 2 under Windows 8 and had to upgrade from the cd, I waited
for the cd to arrive like a lot of us, grin. Anyway, I tried installing
Window-eyes 8.0.0 from the cd and it wouldn't install. It appears my dvd/rw
drive has failed so I'm waiting for a replacement under warranty thank
goodness, grin. At the suggestion of one of the list members, I copied the
cd to a thumb drive and installed Window-eyes from there. Some of the apps
didn't install properly so a restart of the computer was required.
Now, whenever I press the start menu key under Windows 8 after the full
install of Window-eyes 8.0.0, the start menu key no longer speaks. I
unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in and still no go.
Sorry for the long message, but Gw Micro asks for details, grin. Thanks.
Mike M.
