The only real advantage to using iTunes on the PC with your iPhone is if you have content on your PC, such as music that you want to put on your phone. Unfortunately, iTunes is the only way you can transfer content between your PC and I device, as it is not like Android where you can simply plug the phone into the PC and the PC will see it as a drive.
