Hi John,
If you have not deleted sound blaster from your computer, I would try that first.
I would go to
device manager
tab once
press s
until you hear sound
arrow right once then
arrow down to
sound blaster
and press delete
then press OK or yes to continue
then reboot your computer
If it still does not work email me off list and I'll give it another shot.
Good luck, Manny checkout my stand-up comedy performance

I have a Windows-7 professional computer with the latest versions of Windoweyes and Kurzweil-1000. Here's the problem:

I'm using a Creative Labs Soundblaster Z sound card. Everything was working fine until my Soundblaster started crackling -- all sounds, not just speech. The crackling would go away for a while when I did a restart, then come back again.

My computer tech guru switched my sounds (including speech) from the Soundblaster to the on-board sound (the chip on the motherboard) and things were fine; no crackling..

He found out that Creative Labs had issued a driver on March 1^st for the Soundblaster-Z card which fixes the crackling problem. Unfortunately, when he downloaded and installed the driver, all speech -- both for Windoweyes and K1000 -- went away. All other windows sounds are working fine. Just no speech; no synthesizers work.

We rolled back the drivers to the previous version and restarted; still no speech.

We've gone back to the onboard sound -- everything works fine.

Has anybody got any suggestions re what's causing this problem and how to fix it?

Thanks.
