Hmmm, that's a fair point. So the question is, what's stopping the promotion, ad campaign, whatever you want to call it, from going to even Canada? There are, I have heard, many more users of wineyes in Europe than the states. Now I can't remember where I heard that from, otherwise I would credit the source here. But with Jaws being, for the most part, the screen reader of choice in the states, why not extend the offer to non-u.s. citizens? Ok, yes, the jaws comment was a generalization, but that's for another pointless and fruitless debate at another time. Point is, i have to agree with Neville on this one. I would like to hear the rationale behind this decision, though. All of that being said, it is astonishing how many offers are for u.s. and, sometimes, canadian citizens only. At least, it's marketed that way over here, obviously so people participate. This then begs the unanswerable question, how many offers are the u.s. customers missing out, on any product, not window-eyes in particular, that we don't know about. It's an interesting issue, and one that will always have both good and bad sides. I suppose, being that I've rambled on too much, I'd better stop here. But that one had me thinking.

NO, you are not alone. I am from Canada and have owned it since 3.1 I think or perhaps before and always kept current but because I live across a border, can't win.

Hi Listers,

But then goes on to say:

Well, I don't reside in the US but have had a retail version of WEa for around 20 years and currently have some unused SMA's also. I have no idea how much has been spent on updates, SMA's and voices over the time but no doubt, a considerable amount.

but, because I don't live in the US, I am not eligible to enter the competition which deals with a Company that sells on the net anyway.

What percentage of GW Micro's income has been obtained from overseas buyers over the years is impossible for me to know. But, no doubt there are more blind people living in the rest of the World than currently live in the US.

However, the real annoyance comes from the fact that someone who has recently downloaded a free copy of WE under the Microsoft Office arrangement and lives in the US is eligible to enter. Unlike those of us who live elsewhere in the World and have contributed much to GW Micro's income over the years.

It is realised that the competition prize is not all that generous but to me, it is the principle of it.

What do other overseas retail owners of WE think or am I just being too sensitive?
Neville.
