Hello Bob, I just don’t get it! GW Micro has been a top-notch company for a quarter century now. And, the company has never rushed out an inferior product - as is customary with FS.
But why is so many users so clueless? Microsoft would certainly not hook up but with the best; that partnership makes the best all-around screen reader available to millions of needy blind persons around the world. So, why isn’t the dumb asses on this list cognicent of that obvious fact, and rejoicing the new-found access by blind persons around the world? (For instance, every blind college student has free access to Window-Eyes whether or not the local yocals at the rehab centers or commissions for the blind approve or not.) I guess there’s an ignorance gap; most folks on this list aren’t computer scientists nor programmers so the depth and complexity of the “access problem” is beyond their comprehension. Anyone who visits the W3C Consortium web site, the standards setters for the Web, would see how much is required to ensure access to all the emerging Web technology. I find it overwhelming to contemplate. I am sure other programs such as NVDA possess desirable features not presently in Window-Eyes; it’s always easy to “beef-up” a single feature, but it’s quite another thing to ensure equal access across many many programs and platforms. The GW Micro and Microsoft collaboration will, I am sure, foster access to Microsoft’s emerging product lines for many years to come. Microsoft has adopted a vertical product development plan whereby all its products will eventually share a “common core” platform so laptops, tablets, phones, and so on can share software and data seamlessly. I would guess GW Micro is building into the core of Window-Eyes the necessary “doo-hickies” to go in that direction also when the time is appropriate. Keep up the good work, GW Micro Peter Duran From: Robert Ringwald [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, October 27, 2014 12:21 AM To: gw Subject: Re: The Silence is Deafening; Stupid Rumors from Ignorant People Thank you Peter. I couldn’t have said it better. I am leaving your message here as some people need to read it again. Some people just have too much time on their hands. They should use the extra time to do something constructive instead of spreading these unfounded and ignorant rumors. -Bob Ringwald From: Peter Duran<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2014 8:47 AM To: mailto:[email protected] Subject: The Silence is Deafening; Stupid Rumors from Ignorant People Where does such harmful and stupid rumors come from? Remember the best prediction of future performance is past performance. Is FS (behind the sceens) fostering these wild accusations? GW Micro has been above-board for about a quarter century now, so what's the problem here? Who is dumb enough to entertain the idea that Microsoft and AI Squared would both embrace a product that is other than the best? What's wrong with you folks? Where has your common sense gone to? Here's my prediction: The next major release of Window-Eyes will include a robust Browse Mode, support for the latest Access Technology requirements for the Web, and, as usual, work seamlessly with many more commercial programs. As past history shows: Releases of JAWS are haphazard, no encompassing overview of market trends. As published reports about Microsoft indicate: Microsoft, with its new CEO, plans a vertical product line concept: one operating system to work on all major platforms, computers, tablets, mobile devices, and so on. I am sure that Window-Eyes will head in that direction as well. The best is to come from GW Micro and AI Squared! Disclaimer: I don't work for either company, have no stock in either company, have no "inside track" in either company, but I do have common sense - which is apparently in short supply on this list recently. Again, the best predictor of the future is past performance, and, as most of you know, GW Micro has delivered top-notch products consistently for a quarter century now. So, less silly and harmful rhetoric, more common sense, and wait for developments. Peter Duran If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
