Maybe you don't understand why some people want to have as little chatter in their ears, long as they non-mistakably knows and are fully aware what they are doing. And likely many will be with you, just as much as many are with the others. That is why all we call for, is that it at least should be possible for the user to turn this extra verbage on and off.

Just have the list like Jim was describing before so peple know how many icons are on the screen they are switching to. If I keep holding down the alt key I have not left the list so it just reports the name and index of the task I am switching to.
