Hello, I must agree with every statement. I have successfully set up numerous
windows 8/8.1 machines myself with little to no issues. Although I do not like
the start menu itself, there are add-ons that will enable you to have the
classic menu you are use to. Moreover, just like with any other OS, there will
always be challenges. Just a thought to consider. I use a mac myself and sadly,
there are issues with it that for the sake of the list, I will not get into
here. Best wishes and take a look on applevis and see for yourself what issues
are presented.

You are ignoring the fact that many of us are successfully using Windows 8.1.
Not getting the operating system up and running is obviously a result of your
lack of knowledge and persistence. There is actually no reason why you should
like Windows 8 because as you have stated you have alternatives; however, in
this time of technical change and innovation, you're not going to get very far,
if you make such quick snap judgments of complex systems and processes.

Subject: like what?

what can i do with windows 8 that i can't do with 7?
Absolutely nothing. What i'm still trying to tell you is that we
couldn't even get the os to even work. The computer kept locking up
during instalation, and we never got it going. If the os refused to
work, i just had a big paperweight on my desk. I'm sorry, but i must
maintain my original premis.
I am going to a Mac mini which has it's own screen reader. Sounds much
better to me. As i said, i'm not at all afraid of learning curves, but
i cannot learn anything on an os which doesn't. If you windows 8 folks
wanna commit computer suicide, go the hell ahead.

The other problem, is, evenif i had success with windows 8, there is no
tutorial on learning it, so it's a losing proposition no matter what. You
think it'swonderful? Well, i say it's certainly not. I couldn't even do the
usual things with it. At least voiceover works. l,
