Don,
I appreciate the faith you put in our company over Microsoft but they
are a huge company and it is not easy, even for us, to get to the right
people or even if we do get to the right people to have them fix an
issue. There are times I have to put up a huge fight to fix issues
which make something completely inaccessible without sight. Trying to
get them to look at focus issues has been extremely daunting. In fact,
we have to pay money to submit a bug and once we prove that it is a
Microsoft bug we would get refunded. The process to prove this can be
exhausting. But even when we do that doesn't by any stretch of the
imagination mean they will fix the problem. They have to access the
issue and the impact, etc. The process can go on for years. So it sure
sounds simple when you say why don't we just tell Microsoft to fix
it...but then reality kicks in.

OK Doug, as I said when I contacted Microsoft they said there were no
focus issues. It seems that GW had a close relationship with
Microsoft. This focus issue maybe doesn't effect sighted users but it
sure effects us blind users. Would it not be a great idea and use
your Microsoft contacts and get this issue fixed? It is obvious that
Microsoft isn't going to do anything if a user calls them but maybe
just maybe they will listen to you.

John,
You hit the nail on the head. What Don didn't mention when he said he
talked to me is I am able to duplicate focus issues on a machine that
has never had Window-Eyes or any assistive technology installed on it.
There clearly are focus issues within the operating system but as John
pointed out, they just aren't noticed as much because they are pointing
and clicking and that puts focus under the mouse. Few people drive
Windows exclusively from the keyboard so they just aren't noticed.

For sighted people these focus issues are no problem, they just click
somewhere and focus if good and they don't even notice.

Running WE 9 on a Win 8.1 system.
Have reported to GW about WE losing focus on dialog boxes and web
pages. Got a response back from Doug that this was a Windows issue.
Called Microsoft and they say there is no focus issues with Win 8.1.
So the question now is what next? Leaves me between a rock and a hard
spot.
