Hi bruce,

Steve did record a teamtalk session I gave on something else, so it is
possible, but I doubt transcribing them into text is going to happen; we'll
see if we get any volunteers for that! I did buy a recording package for
the pc, and so maybe I'll be able to do the recording now and post them all.

as for "connecting the dots", yes, you're quite right. one good thing about
teaching this way, is that I can ask at the beginning of each session what
people do and don't know; that way, if covering some basic programming in
VBScript is desired before we move on to window-eyes scripting, then we can
do that. some people who already know how to do that will need some
patience, or can come back next week, but this way we'll guarantee not to
leave anyone behind. and I can talk more than I can type! that is one of
the problems with the tutorials I tried (am still trying) to write; I have
some health difficulties which make typing painful, so I don't go into all
the detail I really need to. the teamtalk sessions will be an experiment,
we'll see how they go.

Chip

Hi Chip and Everyone,

I mentioned my 2 cents before only because when your yearly income is
usually equivalent of 12 time s this cost, can it even be economical for
them?

Also, when coming from the open source community like Python, where
everyone contributes for the common good,
There providing and everyone benefits, just like those, like Chip, write
scripts for everyone.

Now, having said that, remember Chip I said I would actually do what you
asked last fall before I started attending college. So I got busy and did
not spend much time on it.

What is being asked of this entire question is one thing, which is
eluded to here is,
in the open source there are links, or .chm, and things like that which do
attempt to connect the dots and give explanations for functions, classes and
properties/methods.

There is already .VBS free tutorials and such, but as I stated before,
when doing the scripting here the sequence of what is required for each code
fragment is lacking or missing, or structured for only engineers to
decipher.

Granted a 3 day course would attempt to do that because it would have
to, so the person learning understands why the programmer wrote what they
wrote.
So, the lecture person could do the same thing they did on video's
converted to text, listed on the Windoweyes knowledge base site. I am
referring to things like Word tutorial and such, where the actual video step
is also written out in text.

Now since there many of those courses taught all over the country, would
it not be possible to in fact record the instructors voice for those 3 days?
Convert it into the same format as the Word and others that exist on the
knowledge base site?

Do such things as edit out questions students ask but concise the
answers to point to the knowledge of and fix or approach of the question
asked.
Since this is going on all the time each time you teach such a course,
it would seem just as easy as the posted videos you have already done.

Correct? I do seem to remember someone saying that a video was available
of one of the lectures and to much computer background voices and such was
interfering with the ability to hear what is being said by the instructor.
The reason why I suggested having a mike on only the person giving the
lecture, so no external noise gets in the mike.

Now having said that, once I start doing this I will in fact do what you
have attempted to do, but there seems to be a need to connect the dots with
windows win32 class, methods, and properties and the specific command that
VBS and WE Script uses to connect to it...
essentially connecting the dots that binds it all together.

I did notice that Aaron Smith does place comments in his scripts and I
am sure others do also, maybe those writers could actually place more notes
in their scripts, as a simple tutorial as they go?

So, I will shut up for now and keep on learning myself.

        Sincerely
        Bruce

Fins up! I mean hands up! Not only am I interested in learning, after you
certify me as a capable amateur, I will volunteer time to pass along that
knowledge.

I certainly don't have any moral objection to GW looking to increase
revenue, but where is the justification for someone like me to shell out the
cost of tuition, travel, lodging and meals for something that as far as I
can tell there is simply no commercial demand for.

Anyway, my hand is up Chip and I promise not to wear my grass skirt and
coconut bra while learning! Grin.

so, why don't we look at doing these ourselves, as a series of TeamTalk
sessions?

who is interested in helping to teach?

who is interested in taking a scripting class using TeamTalk and taught by
volunteer amateurs?

let's see a show of hands?

Hi!

Yes, but they want the money, for ths should be very easy to do instead
of going around the country. but, look at the cost for the 3 days, over $800
and the rest explains itself.

Why not just offer these online?

NER-SCRIPTING0611> here to register for the Window-Eyes
Beginner/Intermediate Script Writing class in Denver, Colorado!

GW Micro and Beyond Sight are excited to offer our Window-Eyes script
writing class for intermediate and beginner users in Colorado!

This class is for people who have little or no script-writing experience.
You will, however, need to have a good working knowledge of Window-Eyes. It
is highly recommended that you have taken the Window-Eyes training class
within the past 12 months. The Beginner/Intermediate script writing class
offers the ability for anyone interested in scripting to be able to come and
learn how to use scripts, configure scripts, and create scripts with no
prior knowledge of scripting required. A large focus is placed on the basics
of scripting, and how to get started creating your own scripts, as well as
how to use scripts to make applications more accessible. If you have used
scripting languages from competing screen readers in the past, this is the
perfect opportunity for you to get up to speed with Window-Eyes scripting!

Due to the large amount of material this class covers, the training will be
a 3-day class. The class will be held on June 22, 23, and 24 at Beyond
Sight, which is located at:

5650 S. Windemere Street
Littleton, CO 80120

For directions to the training location, please call Beyond Sight at (303)
795-6455. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

The cost for this class is $895. We anticipate a very high demand for this
class, so be sure to register soon by going to www.gwmicro.com/training.
Make sure to select Denver, CO as the training location.

If you have questions regarding the class, please call Jeremy Curry at (260)
489-3671. Or, email Jeremy at [email protected].
