Hi Chip and Vic,

I guess besides a progress bar and beeping, maybe an audio alert or a one
time announcement of the file size and the download speed, estimating the time
for download as a quick alert on how long it may take. Just as a suggestion
since the file size is known upon start of the download.

I think it would be a nice enhancement if appGet used a progress bar during
the download of an app; I don't know if the facility being used for downloading
allows for this or not, but I too have wondered what was happening when I
installed an app and nothing seemed to happen. If not a progress bar, then an
announcement if the app was more than a certain minimum size, that the app was
large and might take more than a minute to download.

  Roy,

It is probably not hanging. These are probably both large downloads. I know
Homer Shared Object is very large. While the app is being downloaded, the
machine seems to freeze. There is no speech feedback or anything else. Try
waiting longer and I'll bet it will come back.

  Best regards from Ohio, U.S.A.,

  Vic

  Subject: AppGet sometimes hangs

  hi all

am trying to install the GWAudioKit and HomerSharedObject apps via AppGet.

when pressing the Install button , AppGet simply hangs , then I have to
either perform a system reboot , or stop all scripts so WE returns to normal
operation.

with other apps , this doesn't occur so far.

am using WE7.5.1 and the latest AppGet version.

tried it on 2 systems with same results.

  any ideas?

  thanks a bunch

  Roy.
