I've prepared a Debian package which enables pygwy, but it is not yet uploaded to the Debian ftp-servers, as my sponsor (I cannot upload myself) is currently busy. Depending on your architecture (amd64 or i386) and Ubuntu version, I could try to provide you with a working package. Otherwise it might take some more (hopefully only) days until it's available from the usual Debian (and later the Ubuntu) servers. Just drop me a line!
