Right, you can import such spectra as a set of many SPS and it probably makes sense as it is much simpler than a new kind of data, though it will likey expose some scaling issues as SPS were not meant for this. I was thinking about the `grid' part, i.e. doing something meaningful also in the XY plane, that would be the hard part.
