The "rude comment" part referred to my criticism of corset patterns developed from a pattern block as seen in Waisted Efforts--unless someone with a great deal of skill alters the pattern, the result is almost always all wrong.

As to extra padding, the Edwardians came up with an amazing range of garments and products to generate the right shape, from the inflatable bust pad to heavily boned bust forms and beyond. Examples:
