I was about to suggest something like that--I helped sew up some angel costumes for our church's Christmas play from either this or a similar pattern, and it was a tunic, plain and simple. I finished the seams so it took longer than 2 hours for each, but still, very easy pattern (the person who started the project had zero sewing experience).

PS--there's a chance it was Simplicity 4797, though I remember more of a rectangle-based cut. I'll see if I can find out which one we used, but I doubt it.
