And maybe i should not stitch down the pleats flat in each side, but let
some of the pleats float more....... its ever so difficult.
And maybe also dont make the pleating finnished, but let it be build up bits
by bits on the dress itself
How would you do the job?

Wow, what a snappy gown!  I love the exciting color! IT reminds me of
the fire-engine red one in the V&A; the one with the heavy silver
embroidery. Delicious!
Your drawing says to me: ruching, not pleating.  Pleating withthe gold
braid is too hard & stiff a look.  Perhaps fly fringe instead of the
hard shine of the gold braid.  Let me see if I can find some on
line...

bad news, is that you'll use miles (kilometeres!) of the fly fringe.
