The look i want is this: http://www.my-drewscostumes.dk/sofie1.htm And maybe i should not stitch down the pleats flat in each side, but let some of the pleats float more....... its ever so difficult. And maybe also dont make the pleating finnished, but let it be build up bits by bits on the dress itself How would you do the job?
Wow, what a snappy gown! I love the exciting color! IT reminds me of the fire-engine red one in the V&A; the one with the heavy silver embroidery. Delicious! Your drawing says to me: ruching, not pleating. Pleating withthe gold braid is too hard & stiff a look. Perhaps fly fringe instead of the hard shine of the gold braid. Let me see if I can find some on line... http://www.18cnewenglandlife.org/18cnel%20grand/gown_and_petticoat%20page%202.htm Click on the detail picture at the right for a better closeup. The bad news, is that you'll use miles (kilometeres!) of the fly fringe. Ah, what price beauty! --cin Cynthia Barnes [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
