Just to clarify, before I start a flame war: I don't at all mean that these are somehow "lower" careers! Many people have been very successful at them. What I mean is, if you set your sights low, AND you get into one of these fields, you are likely to have problems -- as others can testify -- if your low expectations lead you to accept pay that's too low and treatment that isn't good enough for how good YOU are. _That_ is the trap to avoid.
