Have you dried it yet? Try either adding a bit of baking soda as a neutralizer 
in the wash, or just let it air out for several days outside (preferably in the 
shade). Odd thing to me is that white vinegar is what I use in the wash as a 
natural and non-smelling fabric softener in the rinse cycle, which I normally 
cannot smell once it is spun and dried. I wonder if it is an artificial vinegar 
smell you are getting? A different kind of vinegar, or what is really going on.

I purchased a lightweight denim jacket dyed a dark blue.  It's lovely, but 
reeks of vinegar!

I've washed it three times, and the smell lingers on.
